Biography
Lynda currently holds the position of Research Associate
at Mount Sinai Hospital in the Microbiology Department with the
role of data collection for the Streptococcus Pneumonia Study
and the upcoming Community MRSA Study.
After obtaining a registered nurse qualification in
1966, she attended the University of Western Ontario for a B.Sc.N
degree in Nursing Education. She attended the Infection Control
I course in Ottawa in the early 1980's and has written the Infection
Control Certification examinations three times since then.
While working for 17 years as the Infection Control
Practitioner at Providence Centre, a long term care facility in
Scarborough, Lynda worked closely with other LTC and acute care
facilities in the Toronto region, given the numerous Norwalk,
influenza and MRSA issues prevalent in practice at those times.
Past professional activities include the positions
of Secretary and newsletter editor for the Toronto Practitioners
in Infection Control. Lynda also served as the leader of the Long
Term Care Infection Control Practitioners, a subsidiary group
of TPIC. As well as providing education at the regular meetings
of this group, an annual day conference was also offered for the
broader community..
