    As leaders in the field of infection control, the goal of the MSH Infection Control Division is to prevent the transmission of infection between hospital patients, personnel, visitors, and other potential contacts.

  • Reducing the Impact of Antimicrobial Resistance at the Mount Sinai Hospital
    Mount Sinai Hospital’s program to reduce the incidence and impact of hospital-acquired infections due to antimicrobial resistant bacteria began in 1995, the year that the province-wide outbreak of infections due to C-MRSA1 (Canadian epidemic strain #1) began.

  • National Information Program on Antibiotics (NIPA):
    2006 National Report Card on Antibiotic Resistance is part of NIPA's goal to educate Canadians on the
    appropriate use of antibiotics. Antibiotic resistance is now recognized as a serious global public health threat. Canadians have access to very effective antibiotics, but these powerful medications will lose their effectiveness if they are not used wisely. More information about NIPA can be found here.
